Debate Practice

The Singapore-style debate is a one-way presentation format.
It is not a back-and-forth exchange — once the topic and position are given, each candidate organises their thoughts
and delivers a single presentation, one at a time.

How it works
1. Select a topic and choose your own stance (for practice)
2. Deliver your presentation on the chosen position once
3. The AI candidate presents the opposing position once (for reference)
4. Feedback · Done
* In the actual interview, the interviewer assigns your for/against position. Since this is practice, you may choose freely.
* Confident, clear delivery matters far more than perfect fluency.
YOUR STANCE (for practice purposes)
In the actual interview, the interviewer assigns it. Here, choose freely for practice.

Debate is not discussion. Discussion is collaborative; debate takes a clear position. In airline interviews, debate is rarely judged on the merits alone — it is used as a training method that strengthens reasoning, composure, and speaking confidence at the same time.

The three-step structure that wins

  1. Position — "I strongly believe that..." / "I disagree with the idea that..."
  2. Three reasons — "First... Second... Finally..."
  3. Conclusion — "For these reasons, I believe..."

Rebuttal etiquette interviewers appreciate

"You're wrong" is never acceptable. Try these instead:

  • "I see your point, but I'd like to add..."
  • "That's an interesting perspective, however..."
  • "I respectfully disagree because..."
